Local and International Israeli Dance Troupes Perform at the 10th Annual Israeli Dance Festival DC

The 10th Annual Israeli Dance Festival DC took place Sunday, March 17, with a pre-festival dance party taking place the night before. The festival honored its founding committee (Ari Atkinson, Mona Goldstein Atkinson, Izik Balely, Mike Fox, Sharon Gelboin-Katz, Judy Kerbel, Marina Kraus, Naomi Reem, Pepe Strauss, Daniela Wegbrait Tam, and Kinneret Rand-Yadin), as well as longtime volunteer Ruth Preuss, z”l. Approximately 700 people attended.

Close to 200 dancers of all ages and backgrounds participated. The performance included eight local Israeli dance troupes, including those from the Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School of the Nation’s Capital (MILTON), the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School, Temple Shalom of Chevy Chase, Yesodot and Kesem Israeli Dance Troupes, Avirah Dance Troupe from the University of Maryland, Mavrik (young professionals), and Hora-im Yeladim, a group of parents and children dancing together. Lehakat Kadima of Porto Alegre, Brazil was the guest performing group.
