The annual Family Math Night on Oct. 30 at Leo Bernstein Jewish Academy of Fine Arts (LBJA), organized by the school’s math coordinator Robin Lempert, proved to be a fun night full of games, activities, and opportunities to explore math for every age. With 100 percent attendance from LJBA families, parents worked with their children throughout the evening at the Silver Spring, Maryland, school.
Older students worked with some of the visiting alumni to play multiplication and fractions games. Math art was also included, as students used protractors to create art, and patterns and symmetry to create alien monsters. Snacks in different mathematical shapes were provided, alongside an estimation station and lots of geometry. Many families took home copies of the games for more math practice at home.
