On Nov. 14 and 15, Shomrai Preschool participated for the first time in the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Conference. NAEYC is a professional membership organization that promotes high-quality early childhood education for children from birth through age 8.

"Professional development for our staff is a priority at Shomrai Preschool. We are always seeking information and education about research-based best practices in early childhood education to implement in our classrooms,” said Suri Kinzbrunner, director of Shomrai Preschool, based in Silver Spring, Maryland.

NAEYC’s annual conference, which took place at the Washington Convention Center this year, is the largest early childhood conference in the world. Early childhood professionals from around the world had the opportunity to choose from hundreds of presentations, workshops, and exhibits on current research and trends in early childhood education.

“I really enjoyed the sessions. They gave me practical ideas that I could take back and implement in my classroom,” said Jessica Hilfer, who teaches 3 year olds at Shomrai Preschool.

“Taking part in the NAEYC conference was an amazing experience,” said Chaya Sara Marizan, who teaches 2 year olds at Shomrai Preschool. “To have the opportunity to meet and speak with so many different early childhood professionals from around the world was truly inspiring. It affirmed for me how important our role is in our students’ lives.”

“Participating in the NAEYC Conference was an invaluable opportunity for our teachers and for myself,” Kinzbrunner said.
