At a recent pre-K open house hosted by the Milton Gottesman Jewish Day School of the Nation’s Capital (MILTON), students unveiled a vibrant, large-scale mural they created that will be donated to the Children’s National Medical Center. The project built on the students’ exploration of various artists and genres, as well as their yearlong study of individual and group identity.
The mural was inspired by the artwork and social activism of Keith Haring and was the result of months of collaboration, creativity, and effort. The students posed for reference photos, traced their projected outlines onto canvas, painted, and stretched the canvas onto frames to bring their project to life. The finished product is a work of art about friendship, love, and working together to make a difference.
