During a special trip to the nation’s capital over Sukkot, Chai Lifeline kids and volunteers had the privilege of visiting the White House — where they were surprised by some very famous guests!

The day started off with a meeting with Ben Carson, U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. He spoke to the children about working hard and reaching their potential in order to make their goals a reality. This was followed by a tour of the East Wing of the White House along with lunch at Char Bar, a kosher grill in DC.

The Chai Lifeline team then went to the Natural History Museum and saw the beautiful butterfly exhibit. The kids had the opportunity to hold all kinds of delicate bugs and wait and watch as butterflies landed on their fingertips.

Then they went back to the White House to bowl in the bowling alley and visit the office of Vice President Mike Pence, where they spoke to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.

At the bowling alley, they had a surprise visit from First Daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner. Trump and Kushner were amazing with the kids, and the staff of Chai Lifeline were very grateful that they took the time to come and hang out with the group.
