At their annual gala on June 4, Sulam celebrated 20 years of working to ensure that a high-quality education is available to Greater Washington area children, irrespective of learning differences. The event was held at the Hilton Washington DC in Rockville, Maryland, and drew over 300 attendees.
Honorees were the Sulam Academic Leadership Team of Dr. Debra Drang, Nancy Kohl, Laura Hardy, Dr. Rachel Ravin, and Rachel Sushner. Members of Sulam's young leadership were also recognized: Dr. Meredith and Dan Kapner; David and Tamar Volosov; and Miriam and Dr. Edwin Zaghi. Maryland’s First Lady, Yumi Hogan, received the Sulam Public Service Award.
Speakers included 2019 graduates Emuna Shiller, Leora Fishman, and Yoey Garfield, who shared their personal stories. Former board member Aaron Orlofsky also offered his perspective as a Sulam parent on the importance of the institution to families and to the community at large.
