More than 700 business and community leaders from the Greater Washington area gathered June 13 for the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) Mid-Atlantic Region Annual Gala in support of the brave men and women of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
This year’s gala celebrated a five-year partnership between the FIDF LEGACY Program, which supports the widows, orphans, and other family members of fallen IDF soldiers, and Capital Camps. Starting July 8, 27 campers and six counselors, all from bereaved IDF families, will participate in the summer program in DC and Philadelphia, along with two commanders from the IDF Casualties Department.
The event honored IDF Maj. Gen. Michael Edelstein, military and defense attaché to the United States, and featured comedian Joel Chasnoff as master of ceremonies.
“Our annual gala gives the greater DC community the chance to celebrate and thank the brave men and women of the IDF,” said FIDF Mid-Atlantic Executive Director Ari Dallas. “Supporters are given the amazing opportunity to hear firsthand from the soldiers, about how the work of FIDF makes a tangible difference in their lives.”
